My name is Nökkvi Elíasson and I am a 38 year old amateur photographer living in Reykjavík , Iceland. I began my photography career about 20 years ago, concentrating mostly on black and white images. For the past decade I have dedicated my self to photographing deserted farms and other abandoned buildings. My work have appeared widely on book jackets, CD-covers, in programmes, and in newspapers. Among the most recent articles was a two page feature in Morgunblaðið in September 1997, which centred on my photographs of abandoned farmsteads. I held my first big exhibition in Reykjavík Of Photographic Museum february 2001, with Brian Sweeney. The theme was Deserted Farms in Iceland . This Exhibition was then continued in Höfn in Hornafjörður in april, same year. I have been working on a book dedicated to deserted farms, which is out now.
