What is this? (or rather, what was this?)
The pictures in this album were taken in the valley Brynjudalur in Hvalfjördur, Iceland in late summer 2009. Judging from the looks of it this was at one time some kind of drilling unit mounted on the back of a 1952/1953 GMC truck. According to a number plate the machine was manufactured by Stardrill - Keystone Co., Beaver Falls, PA.. According to what little info I found on the manufacturer the company ceased operations in 1958/59. Does anybody have an idea as what this was? Who used this equipment, where and when? "Parked" alongside the drilling equipment are the remains of some mysterious looking vehicle, possibly a Ford pick-up truck, that once belonged to the U.S.A.F. Any clues on the above would be greatly appreciated.

From Brynjudalur in Hvalfjörður, Iceland. The wild blackberries in Bryjnudalur taste good.
